It is with great sadness we announce that Dr. Deborah A. Steege, Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry, passed away in Michigan on September 7, 2018. Debbie joined the Department of Biochemistry at Duke in 1977 and retired in 2013. During her over three-decade career at Duke, Debbie carried out a number of important studies on the control of prokaryotic gene expression.
