Gain insight on creating competitive applications for U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) funding proposals. Open to anyone interested in expanding funding sources. Registration optional. ‏‏‎ ‎ The U.S. Government funds basic and applied research across many disciplines using multiple funding agencies. ‏‏‎ ‎ This presentation will focus on funding processes used by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) but will also be relevant to other DOD funding agencies such as the Army Research Office (ARO) and the Office of Naval Research (ONR). ‏‏‎ ‎ Topics addressed will be related to the Broad Agency Announcement (BAA), white papers, proposal submission, funding timelines, program reviews, reports, domestic and international collaboration, and communications - all from the mindset of the program officer. ‏‏‎ ‎ ‏‏‎ ‎ Register to let us know you plan to attend (optional): https://duke.is/j53sc ‎ ‎ About the Speaker Dr. Caster received his bachelor's degree (cum laude) in chemistry with a minor in physics from Stetson University in 1979 and his doctorate in organic chemistry from Duke University in 1983 (w/Prof. Louis D. Quin). He has held positions at the University of Florida, Union Carbide Corporation, Lord Corporation, Duke's Center for Biologically Inspired Materials and Material Systems, the U.S. Army Research Office (ARO), and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). Since 2017, he has managed the AFOSR Organic Materials Chemistry program. ‏‏‎ ‎ The AFOSR Organic Materials Chemistry research program aims to achieve unusual properties and behaviors from polymeric and organic materials and their organic-inorganic hybrids through a fundamental understanding of their chemistry, physics, and processing conditions.
